“Ko te hapori tōku tuarā i poipoi ai tōku whānau”
“My community is my tuarā (backbone) that nurtures my whānau.”
At Waatea School, we pride ourselves in providing wrap-around support to whānau and their tamariki. We are very fortunate to be able to teach and learn at Nga Whare Waatea with the support of MUMA (Manukau Urban Māori Authority) and their services.
We believe that every child is unique and should be allowed time and space to discover their full potential and what they are capable of. Although we are very small, we all work together as one whānau. Many of our school experiences and learning opportunities are explored through a tuakana/teina approach where we work to support one another.
Our kaiako are passionate, and determined, and strive to implement evidence-based teaching practices to accelerate student achievement.
